Job description

Arning Companies is looking for a hands-on Shipping & Receiving Production Worker who’s comfortable around heavy equipment and enjoys staying active throughout the day. This role is a mix of machine operation, forklift work, and shipping logistics—you’ll be involved from start to finish, helping manufacture metal components and then loading and securing them for shipment.

This is not a desk job. The right person enjoys working with machinery, takes pride in accurate, solid work, and understands how critical proper loading and material handling are to keeping products safe in transit.

Key Responsibilities
Machine & Production Work
  • Set up and run a roll-forming machine that shapes metal coils into architectural and structural components
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and consistency
  • Measure and visually inspect parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards
  • Load metal coils onto the decoiler and manage finished material as it comes off the line
Forklift & Material Handling
  • Operate high-capacity forklifts to move steel coils, oversized parts, and finished assemblies throughout the shop and yard
  • Safely stage materials for production and prepare completed products for shipment
  • Assist with moving heavy components efficiently while maintaining clear communication with the production team
Loading & Shipping Logistics
  • Load finished canopies, structural steel, and roll-formed parts onto flatbed trailers
  • Secure loads using straps, chains, and bracing to ensure compliance with DOT standards
  • Verify shipments and document materials using shipping manifests and internal tracking systems
Receiving & Warehouse Operations
  • Receive incoming materials, inspect for damage, and verify quantities against packing slips
  • Organize and stage materials to keep the warehouse and production floor running smoothly
Qualifications
  • Manufacturing Experience: Previous experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, shipping/receiving, or heavy equipment operation preferred
  • Forklift Experience: Comfortable operating forklifts around large, heavy, and oversized materials (certification a plus)
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read basic blueprints or shop drawings and use measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers
  • Physical Capability: Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a non-climate-controlled environment
  • Safety Focus: Strong commitment to safe work practices when operating machinery, forklifts, and working around moving equipment
