The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving and unloading incoming goods, verifying goods with documentation, and processing the documentation in accordance with local policies.
Responsibilities
Major Job Activities
- Performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods and receiving incoming shipments.
- May direct and coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods to be shipped or received.
- Verifies the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records.
- Verifies that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against DD Form 1348 documents.
- Ensures shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles.
- Prepares and maintains records of goods shipped, e.g., DD Form 1348, bill of lading.
- Checks for damaged goods.
- Operates equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, or stand-up lifts.
- Ensures goods are appropriately identified for routing within the establishment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unaided and 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks, safety vests, steel or composite shoes/boots, gloves, hard hats, and eyewear in designated areas.
- Must be able to walk on uneven ground and work at various sites, standing for 6-8 hours daily.
- Work requires continuous walking, standing, and sitting.
Working Environment
- Operate in warehouse and outdoor environments.
- Work on uneven ground and at various sites, with prolonged periods of standing.
- Extensive interaction with customers.
- Adhere to company work rules.
- May be exposed to extreme weather conditions and work during nights, weekends, and holidays under strenuous conditions.
- Duties may involve outdoor work with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain a forklift license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Successful passing of a pre-employment drug screen.
Experience
- Experience in storage, warehouse functions, and computer support systems related to requisition, receipt, storage, and issue processes.
- One year of forklift experience preferred.
Skills
- Proficient in using computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and interact effectively at all levels in a fast-paced environment.
- Work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
