Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk maintains accurate inventory, coordinates the flow of materials, and ensures that all incoming and outgoing shipments are processed efficiently and correctly. This role supports warehouse logistics, order fulfillment, and chemical inventory management while helping maintain a clean, organized, and well-presented shop floor and storage areas.

Responsibilities
  • Manage inventory accuracy through daily cycle counts, bin stock control, and ongoing inventory monitoring.
  • Pick, process, and prepare customer orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy, proper packaging, and complete shipping documentation.
  • Receive, unload, and stock incoming materials, consumables, and merchandise using appropriate material handling equipment, including forklifts.
  • Organize and maintain merchandising on shelves and the shop floor to ensure a clean, orderly, and well-presented work area.
  • Monitor sales and inventory levels to determine replenishment needs and place stocking orders, re-orders, and special orders as required.
  • Support material logistics between multiple locations, including parts delivery and pick-up to and from various sites.
  • Manage chemical inventory by stocking materials, checking expiration dates, and ensuring proper handling and storage in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Process work orders, including order picking and issuing work orders to support production and other operational needs.
  • Verify and keep accurate records of outgoing shipments, including quantities, contents, and destination information.
  • Prepare items for shipment by assembling or selecting appropriate wooden or cardboard containers or preassembled packaging.
  • Affix shipping labels and other required documentation to packed cartons and containers to ensure correct routing and compliance.
  • Perform data entry related to inventory, shipping, receiving, and work orders using computer systems, including ERP/MRP and SAP tools.
  • Handle general material movement within the warehouse, including staging, organizing, and transporting components and consumables.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures and wear personal protective equipment when working in designated areas or performing specific tasks.
  • Adapt to changing duties, responsibilities, and activities as business needs evolve, while maintaining high levels of accuracy and efficiency.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in shipping and receiving operations, including packaging, picking, and material handling.
  • Strong inventory control skills, including conducting cycle counts, managing bin stock, and monitoring inventory levels.
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective teamwork skills combined with a high degree of initiative and reliability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and documenting transactions.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of self-motivation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems for inventory and order management.
  • Basic computer skills and data entry capabilities for warehouse inventory and shipping systems, including SAP.
  • Capability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely, in accordance with company policies.
  • Eligibility as a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 to meet Export Control compliance requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with chemical inventory management, including stocking and monitoring expiration dates.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, machine shop, or warehouse environment.
  • Comfort working with shipping documentation, labels, and recordkeeping processes.
  • Ability to support logistics between multiple locations through parts delivery and pick-up.
  • Flexibility to take on changing duties and responsibilities as business needs require.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
