Job summary

Superior Roof Metals in San Jose, CA is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate to load and unload shipments, organize materials, and accurately pull and prepare customer orders while maintaining precise documentation.

Superior Roof Metals is hiring a Shipping & Receiving Associate in San Jose, CA. This role involves loading and unloading shipments, organizing materials, accurately pulling and preparing customer orders, and ensuring proper documentation. The ideal candidate should have warehouse experience, forklift certification (or willingness to be trained), strong attention to detail, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Unload/ load shipments.
• Store/organize material at warehouse.
• Confirm accuracy of shipment.
• Pick orders for local customers and load.
• Review will calls with customers and have them sign shipping documents.
• All associated paperwork.
• Provide the highest level of customer service to all company customers.
• Pull orders in a timely manner.
• Maintain complete professionalism at all times.
• Lift, carry, and handle materials up to 50 pounds.
• Perform physical tasks such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and walking in the warehouse.
• Operate a forklift (Certification required. company will assist the right person.)
• Involvement in special assignments not limited to ONLY order pulling.
• Label all pulled materials with work order number, when is required for jobsites sometimes the job name can be written in the material.
• Package all the materials so it can be safely loaded.
• Confirm all orders match the schedule before loading the trucks.
• Directly responsible for filling out the pick list as well as ensuring that the information is accurate.
• Works with other departments (production, customer service) to resolve problems.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• 1 or more years of forklift operation (preferred)
• 2 or more years of warehouse experience (preferred)

Skills and Competencies:

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks in a warehouse environment.
• Forklift operation (certification required, or willingness to be trained).
• Ability to handle paperwork and complete administrative tasks related to shipments.
• Ability to kneel, squat, bend, and walk around warehouse
• Ability to operate a forklift (Certification required. company will assist the right person.)

Work Environment:

This position is in a warehouse/manufacturing setting with a focus on physical tasks such as material handling, and order picking, with exposure to noise, dust and varying temperatures. Safety protocols and attention to detail are essential when operating forklift and handling materials in warehouse.

Physical Demands:

The role requires the ability to handle various physical demands, including:

• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, and sitting.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment (forklift).
• Must maintain safety protocols when operating equipment and handling materials.
• Must be able to load and unload deliveries, occasionally working in tight spaces or lifting materials from trucks.
• Exposure to outdoor conditions during order pulling, requiring awareness of weather conditions and physical endurance for carrying and lifting packages.
• Strict adherence to company safety protocols, including the use of proper lifting techniques and following forklift inspection checklists before driving.

Compensation:

This position is non-exempt and complies with California's wage and hour laws. Compensation for this role ranges from $19.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
