Job summary

New Horizons Baking Company in Fremont, IN, seeks a dock/warehouse associate to follow shipping, receiving and warehousing procedures for all raw materials, shipments, and finished products.

The role includes loading/unloading, recording logs, inventory checks, and ensuring clean, food-safe operations in the dock, warehouse and freezer areas, with attention to packaging integrity and daily dispatch schedules.

Qualifications

• Must complete and be competent in all required FSQA, Safety and Job training.
• Must observe and understand all company rules, follow all safety programs, wear proper PPE during job duties.
• Inspects trailers for cleanliness and damage.
• Conducts inspections of dock, freezer, and ingredient storage.
• Reads, comprehends and completes required forms.
• Reports and takes necessary action to prevent food safety, legality and quality problems.
• Follows and enforces programs and procedures outlined in the Food Safety and Quality Manual to support compliance with the GFSI Global Standard for Food Safety and other third-party audits.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload product and equipment safely.
• Distribute the correct amount of product to the correct location.
• Finish daily paperwork and put up orders as needed.
• Receives all finished product, raw material and packaging, and records all pertinent information onto paperwork or other logs as required.
• Receives UPS, FedEx and other ground transportation materials.
• Prepares raw material transfers to other facilities as required.
• Conducts raw material and packaging inventories.
• Dumps recycling waste into recycling trailers.
• Loads pallets and oil drums onto transport trailers for recycling.
• Reports unsatisfactory condition to Dock Supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
• Responsible for incoming and outgoing trailer inspections.
• Responsible for keeping the dock, warehouse, freezer and all work areas/equipment in a clean and food safe manner.
• Responsible for ensuring product package integrity: – pillow pack and bag seals are intact, product is properly placed within the tray and coded, boxes are sealed and coded, pallets are stacked and wrapped properly.
• Maintains established time schedules set and communicates with production and distribution regarding any variations to the daily dispatch.
• Communicates outcome with Shipping Supervisor on any variations of schedule or issues on the shift.
