Garland Co. in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Shipping associate to handle loading/unloading, pack/unpack, and prepare orders for shipment. This role involves scheduling trucks and coordinating inbound/outbound shipments.
You will maintain inventory accuracy, restock as needed, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a team are essential. Experience in shipping is preferred; high school diploma required; training on PPE and safety rules
The shipping position is responsible for the loading and unloading of all incoming and outgoing materials and/or products. Additionally, shipping is responsible for pulling customer orders, compiling materials for shipment and scheduling incoming and outgoing product shipments.
High school diploma or equivalent is required; a technical degree or relevant trade certification is a plus. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered. Proven experience in shipping is preferred. Must possess the ability to read and interpret specifications, schematics, and manuals, along with a strong working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools. Must possess a solid understanding of production procedures, analytical skills, and strong attention to detail. Demonstrated teamwork, time management, effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with co-workers are essential. Must be results-oriented, able to work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals, manage tight time constraints, and work both independently and within a team environment. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear) is required.
Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise, and effective manner with co-workers, company representatives, management, and staff in face-to-face, one-on-one, and group settings. Sit, stand, and/or walk for extended time periods. The employee is required to sit, climb, balance, carry, push, pull, reach, and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, sit, and stand for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift, maneuver, and/or pivot up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, maneuver, and/or pivot up to 100 pounds with assistance. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Ability to accurately distinguish color variation. Ability to properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed in designated areas and use necessary care to avoid placing self and others in an unsafe environment. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents. The manufacturing plant is not climate controlled. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility.
