Job summary

Teak Isle Manufacturing in Florida is seeking a reliable Shipper/Packager to assemble cartons and crates by hand and with basic machinery. The role includes inspecting shipments, measuring parts, and packing to prevent damage during transit.

You will operate a forklift, check compliance with shipping specs, and support the team with cross-training in related packing tasks as needed. This is a demanding, hands-on position in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Qualifications

• The employee must bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods.
• Must frequently lift 50 pounds and work 10-hour days with overtime.
• Must work in a non-climate-controlled environment with high temperatures.
• Must work under time constraints and deadlines.
• Must work in a dusty environment.
• Must be able to read measurements in inches.

Responsibilities

• Construct cartons and boxes by hand from unassembled stock, using hand tools and machinery.
• Measure parts to determine the correct size box or crate for shipment.
• Pack products to minimize waste and prevent shifting during transit.
• Inspect shipments to ensure packing specifications are met (vendor, quantity, packaging).
• Notify the shipping group leader of defects, shortages or problems affecting shipments.
• Review orders to ensure shipping specifications are met.
• Operate forklift to load shipments on trucks.
• Perform all packing functions.
