Job summary

Valmont is seeking a Warehouse Shipper A in Valley, Nebraska for loading parts onto trailers and packaging finished goods. You will operate a forklift, read pick lists, follow quality procedures, and maintain a clean, safe shipping area.

The role requires multi-tasking, attention to detail, and teamwork with the Shipping department. Typical shifts run 1st shift, Monday through Friday, with overtime possible.

Qualifications

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, read, write, and count.
• Ability to operate a forklift.
• Ability to stand, bend, push, pull, climb, and move in the warehouse.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work overtime up to 10+ hours per week.
• Ability to read order pick lists and identify parts by sight.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Work, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

Compensation: $24.62 per hour

Schedule: 1st shift, Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

A Brief Summary of This Position

This incumbent will be a team member within the Valley Structures Shipping department and will be responsible for gathering and loading parts on trailers for customer shipments. The incumbent in this position must be highly motivated and self-driven to complete individual orders throughout the shift while maintaining a safe and productive working environment. This incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that the customer receives quality products by watching the finish or coating while the product is being packed. The Shipper A will also be responsible for operating a forklift.

Essential Functions

• Closely inspect products for finishing or coating defects while packaging to ensure Valmont Customer received quality products
• Maintain and operate packing and shipping equipment in safe and secure manner
• Understands and complies with department quality procedures
• Reads order pick lists and recognizes major parts by sight
• Maintains housekeeping in the area
• Responds in a positive fashion to the direction of a shift supervisor or lead, participating in departmental/team functions
• Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility and OSHA safety regulations at all times
• Maintain a safe and productive working environment
• Work outside throughout all seasons
• All other duties as assigned by Leadership

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, read, write, and count
• Ability to work with wood and small hand tools such as tape measures, saws and drills
• Ability to stand, bend, push, pull, climb, lift and move about the warehouse
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds safely throughout the shift
• Ability to work over ten hours a week in overtime when required for business needs
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Ability to work positively in a team environment
• Ability to progress to a Shipper B within their first 24 months of employment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to accurately take measurements using close tolerance measuring instruments

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

• One year of previous experience working in a warehouse and/or manufacturing environment
• One year of forklift experience
• Ability to identify below standard products and communicate with management
• Communicate and interact positively with various levels of team members
• Attention to detail and follow work instructions
