Job summary

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled shipfitter to lay out and fabricate metal structural parts for ship hulls. You will brace components in position for riveting or welding, following blueprints and templates.

Responsibilities include aligning parts, marking reference lines, drilling holes, and installing fittings such as doors and brackets. The role requires experience with cutting, welding, and safety protocols in a heavy industrial shipyard.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED plus 3–5 years of shipfitting experience required
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools to construct marine vessels is required
  • Ability to cut and burn with a torch or plasma cutter
  • Tack weld with 7018/6011 stainless rod, MIG, and aluminum

Responsibilities

  • Lay out and fabricate metal structural parts per blueprints or templates
  • Brace parts in position for riveting or welding
  • Locate and mark reference lines and holes for drilling
  • Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, and clamps
  • Install packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories
  • Tack weld clips and brackets before permanent welding
  • Maintain daily work assignments and safety compliance
