Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding, part of HII, seeks an Ingalls Shipfitter to cut, grind, bend and fit steel for Navy ships. The role requires a journeyman level craftsman capable of reading blueprints, measuring with metric and standard units, and working safely on multiple shifts in a heavy fabrication environment.

We offer up to $39.04 per hour based on experience, overtime potential, and a comprehensive benefits package. Minimum of 1 year trade experience is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of trade experience.
• Basic math, reading and comprehension skills.
• Read and interpret blueprints in metric and standard.
• Knowledge of the layout, fit-up and fabrication of steel plate and beam.
• Experience with grinder, hand torch and shop tools.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble metal components for ships.
• Read blueprints and ensure accurate fit-up at various stages.
• Work in different heights, confined spaces and shifts, following safety procedures.
