The Shipfitters are responsible for accomplishing work in accordance with work specifications safely, with the highest quality and in a professional manner. Regular, reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of the job.
Layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames,
Components and deck packages
Developing a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding
Operations
Aligning parts in relation to each other using jacks, clips and wedges through use of blueprints and
Templates
Tack-welding structural parts as required
Ability to read and interpret written policies, procedures and guidelines as work assignments will be
Accomplished using company drawling’s, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard
procedures

Visual Requirements: Must be able to pass a Standard Jaeger’s Test chart for near vision acuity reading J1 letters or equivalent with or without corrective aids and pass a color vision test using Ishihara’s Tests for Color Deficiency.
This position reports to shop supervisor. This position develops and maintains a positive working relationship with other Shipfitters and supports a team approach in the pursuit of common company goals.
