Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. is seeking Pipefitters for Newport News Shipbuilding to install and service complex ship piping systems. You will read blueprints, fabricate, install, inspect, and test piping throughout ships and shops.

You will begin with Fundamentals of Pipe Fitting training and continue with additional training to expand your knowledge and skills in piping, hydraulics, and related areas. This role requires physical work, heights, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

• Certificate or diploma in pipe fitting or a directly related field.
• Read blueprints and interpret piping diagrams.
• Lift up to 40 lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Install, fabricate, inspect and test shipboard piping systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications for piping.
• Attend Fundamentals of Pipe Fitting training and ongoing skill development.
