Job summary
Leidos is seeking a Tech II Shipboard Installer for our Chesapeake, VA office to support ASW sonar system installation, modernization, and related duties.
The role involves interpreting installation drawings, planning cable routes, performing cableway work, testing, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. A Secret Security Clearance is required and the team emphasizes mentorship and quality workmanship.
Qualifications
- HS diploma or equivalent and 3 years of direct experience conducting field installation projects.
- Fiber Optic cable handler certified to 8477552A.
- Fiber Optic Connector qualified.
- Copper Connector Qualified Mil Standard.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders.
Responsibilities
- Understand & interpret ship installation drawings.
- Plan cable routes & runs.
- Conduct WAF / TUMS / Lockout/Tag-outs.
- Cableway inspections.
- Cableway installation, equipment removal & installation.
- Removal & installation of various cable types.
- Opening & closing of MCT's/MCP's & the associated documentation & testing.
- Cable termination, hardwired connections, & connector fabrication.
- Cable testing to include cable continuity & megger testing.
- Cable & Cableway management, cable dress-in, banding, & cable tag installation.
- Adherence to all safety regulations & procedures applicable to task.
- Completion of required documentation, OQE, & paperwork.
- Mentorship of junior team members on safety, workmanship, & best practices
