Qualifications

• Eight years’ experience in operation, repair, and maintenance of naval or marine propulsion hull, mechanical, electrical or electronic systems.
• Documented electrical knowledge of Navy shipboard electrical systems and equipment.
• U.S. Navy surface ships or aircraft carriers experience required.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, or other mechanical technical data pertaining to naval hull, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
• Able to work aboard ships in a shipyard environment under industrial conditions.
• Able to wear PPE including hard hats, hearing protection and safety glasses.
• Two years’ experience in a team lead or supervisor role preferred.
• An associate degree may substitute for up to two years of technician experience.
• OSHA 7615 Shipyard Employment 10-hour training within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
• Respirator qualified including a physical and fit test.

Responsibilities

• Offer subject matter expertise to shipboard personnel and assist the CEMAT electrical project team with engineering and technical support.
• Deliver on-the-job training to ship’s force Sailors as needed.
• Provide guidance on materials, maintenance, and training to ships' crews for shipboard equipment and systems on CVN aircraft carriers.
• Electrical troubleshooting using a multimeter and megohmmeter.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
• Maintain and repair shipboard auxiliary electrical equipment on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers, including pumps, air conditioning, and 400 Hz power conversion systems.
