Overview

General:
The M.C. Dean, Inc. Maritime Division operates at shipyards worldwide from regional offices in Chesapeake, VA, and San Diego, CA. Join our Alteration Installation Teams to support C4ISR system installations on ships and submarines. Be part of the top waterfront team, enjoying competitive compensation and benefits.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2-3 years of applicable welding experience
• ASNT NDT Level III Certification or relevant experience
• Additional technical certification such as AWS Certified Welding Supervisor, AWS Certified Weld Inspector, or equivalent

Skills and Proficiencies:

• Interpret specifications and shipboard installation drawings
• Operate ARC and gas welding equipment for fabrication and repair
• Weld in all positions and on various metals and alloys
• Perform thermal cutting, grinding, and repair tasks
• Possess supervisory and leadership skills

Safety and Physical Requirements:

• Occupation Safety Haz-Mat Certification
• Shipyard Competent Person Certification
• Aloft/Climbing/Shipyard Stairs and Ladders Certification
• Confined Spaces Certification
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing 50 lbs safely

Security and Work Locations:

• Primarily based in San Diego, CA, and Norfolk, VA, with travel to other shipyards and Navy ports
• Work at government facilities; US Citizenship and security clearance eligibility required
• Background investigation required
• Valid driver's license required

Other Responsibilities:

• Work overtime as needed
• Maintain and safeguard equipment and inventory
• Organize and schedule welding jobs for timely completion

Physical Requirements:

• Lift at least 100 lbs at once and 60 lbs for extended periods
• Relocate a 12-foot stepladder unaided
• Work at heights up to 60 feet, climbing scaffolds, lifts, and ladders
• Perform routine physical activities including walking, climbing, lifting, and reaching
• Good vision (corrected), color vision, hearing, and communication skills in English
• Recognize potential problems and apply general problem-solving rules
• Close-range detail vision and auditory comprehension required
