Minimum Education:
- Completion of a formal two-year or longer contractor apprenticeship in a related field, including at least six months of classroom training in structural design and metal fabrication.
- Completion of four years of U.S. military service with technical ratings such as Mechanist Mate, Structural Mechanic, Machinery Repair, or Steel Worker.
- An associate degree or higher in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or related Technology is preferred.
Experience: 5+ Years
- Minimum of five years in mechanical or structural assembly, repair, and layout, with at least three years in shipboard mechanical and structural planning, including electronic installation requirements.
Skills and Proficiencies:
- Advanced skills in complex mechanical and sub-assembly, rack, and chassis assembly.
- Strong leadership abilities.
- Demonstrated superior workmanship in mission-critical environments.
Safety and Physical Requirements:
- Occupational Safety Haz-Mat, Shipyard Competent Person, Afloat/Climbing, Confined Spaces, and CPR certifications or ability to obtain.
- Ability to lift and move objects of 50 lbs, and training in safe lifting practices.
Security and Work Locations:
- Primarily in San Diego, CA, and Norfolk, VA, with travel to other shipyards and Navy ports.
- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for security clearance, pass a background check, and possess a valid driver's license.
- Position may require use of a company vehicle with an acceptable driving record.
Other Responsibilities:
- Work overtime as needed.
- Maintain and safeguard equipment, tools, and inventory.
- Organize and schedule jobs for timely completion.
Pay Range: $39.20 - $58.80 per hour

Physical and Abilities Requirements:
- Lift at least 100 lbs, work at heights up to 60 feet, and perform physical tasks such as climbing, crawling, and reaching.

- Ability to recognize problems and apply general rules to specific situations.
