Job description

The M.C. Dean, Inc. Maritime Division works at shipyards around the world from our regional offices in Jacksonville, FL, Chesapeake, VA, and San Diego, CA. Become a key member of our Alteration Installation Teams, supporting C4ISR system installations on ships and submarines. Responsibilities
Skills and Proficiencies:
  • Have superior skills in complex mechanical, sub-assembly, rack and chassis assembly

  • Maintain and safeguard company equipment and tools

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
  • Completion of formal two-year or more contractor apprenticeship program in a related field that includes at least six months of formal classroom training that addresses structural design, and fabrication of metal objects.
  • Completion of four (4) years of U.S. military service with one of the following technical ratings: a) Mechanist Mate, Structural Mechanic, Machinery Repair, or Steel Worker
  • An associate degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical or Structural Engineering Technology
Experience:

5+ Years in mechanical or structural assembly, repair, and layouts, including shipboard mechanical and structural requirements rated to electronic installations such as antenna supports, equipment foundations, bulkhead and hull penetrations of cable and waveguide. Experience should include designing shipboard air conditioning, venting and cooling systems, conducting layout surveys, analyzing test results, and developing data reports.

Security and Work Locations:
  • Work primarily in Jacksonville, FL, with potential travel to other shipyards in the USA and Navy ports outside the USA
  • Applicants must undergo a security investigation and meet eligibility for access to classified information, including U.S. Citizenship and a Secret clearance
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record
Abilities:
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance
  • Work at heights up to 60 feet, climb scaffolds, aerial lifts, and ladders
  • Perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead
  • Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, and hearing abilities
  • Recognize problems or potential issues
  • Apply rules to specific problems and synthesize information
  • See details within a few feet
  • Understand spoken information and communicate effectively in English
