General:
The M.C. Dean, Inc. Maritime Division works at shipyards around the world from our regional offices in Chesapeake, VA, and San Diego, CA. Become a key member of our Alteration Installation Teams, supporting C4ISR system installations on ships and submarines. Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience: 3+ Years
- The Engineering Technician 2 has thorough knowledge of shipboard C5ISR installation practices and procedures, demonstrated by successful completion of installation tasks. Responsibilities include building infrastructure (cabling, connections, racks), installing and testing equipment and devices on ships and submarines. A minimum of three years of applicable experience in alteration installation tasks, including fabrication, assembly, or repairs of electromechanical and electronic assemblies per drawings. Experience with soldering (low wattage), assembling cable harnesses, and making high-density electrical connectors is required.
Skills and Proficiency:
- Support cabling, equipment, and C5ISR system installations as part of a team
- Read and interpret shipboard installation drawings, diagrams, blueprints, and cable sheets
- Operate installation test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, voltmeters, VSWR meters, Bit-Error Rate Test Sets, and cable testers
- Perform tasks like attaching fiber optic, RJ-45, and DB connectors with speed and accuracy; dress cables neatly for professional appearance
- Excel in complex mechanical, sub-assembly, rack, and chassis assembly
- Demonstrate leadership abilities
- Provide high-quality workmanship in mission-critical environments
Safety and Physical Requirements:
- Occupational Safety Haz-Mat Certification
- Shipyard Competent Person Certification
- Aloft/Climbing Certification
- Working in Confined Spaces Certification
- Ability to safely lift and move objects weighing 50 lbs
Security and Work Locations:
- Primarily in San Diego, CA, and Norfolk, VA, with travel to other shipyards and Navy ports
- Work at government facilities; US Citizenship and ability to obtain clearance required
- Must pass background checks
- Valid driver's license required; may require use of company vehicle with an acceptable driving record
Other Responsibilities:
- Work overtime as requested
- Maintain and safeguard equipment, tools, and welding inventory
- Organize and schedule welding jobs for timely completion
Pay Range: $24.80 - $37.20

Abilities:
- Lift at least 100 pounds at once and 60 pounds for extended periods
- Relocate a 12-foot stepladder unaided
- Work at heights up to 60 feet, climb and balance on scaffolds, lifts, and ladders
- Perform routine physical tasks including walking, climbing, lifting, and reaching
- Good vision (corrected if needed), color vision, hearing, and English communication skills
- Use standard ladders with tools without exceeding weight limits
