Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. seeks a Structural Designer with at least 1 year of shipbuilding experience or an associate’s degree in a relevant field.

You will develop detailed structural drawings and engineering deliverables based on specifications and work orders. Responsibilities include preparing Bills of Materials (BOM), coordinating with engineering, manufacturing and planning teams, and ensuring designs meet USCG, ABS, SOLAS, and other standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of structural design experience in shipbuilding or an associate’s degree in a relevant field.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AutoCAD and 3D modeling using Ship Constructor.
• Knowledge of USCG, ABS, SOLAS, and other government shipbuilding standards (NVR, NAVSEA, MIL).

Responsibilities

• Ensure design products and engineering deliverables conform to engineering design rules and customer specifications.
• Prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) to support project requirements.
• Consult with external vendors on project-related activities and specifications.
• Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups to ensure ease of manufacture.
• Evaluate and align designs with contractual specifications and available materials.
