Under the direction of the Public Health Community Health and Promotion Unit Supervisor, the SHIP Grant Coordinator is responsible for all aspects related to the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) grant and will work in conjunction with current Public Health staff and other stakeholders to coordinate and lead SHIP initiatives and functions as outlined in the SHIP grant.
This position is grant funded.• Plan, implement and evaluate programs and initiatives that focus on policy, system and environmental changes in schools, worksites, communities, child care, and health care organizations to reduce obesity and tobacco use and exposure.
• Plan and conduct SHIP-related needs assessments to assist in determining where to allocate resources and communicate findings to key audiences, to promote the development of the SHIP strategies.
• Collect, analyze and interpret SHIP-focused data and provide recommendations to stakeholders in order to identify and maintain SHIP-related strategies to maintain compliance with the SHIP grant
• Educate the community regarding public health issues related to SHIP, using meetings, media, websites, newsletters, etc., and advocate for community action.
• Responsible for maintaining membership on the SHIP Community Leadership Team and, in collaboration with the Leadership team, design and execute strategies that monitor and assess the effects of SHIP programs in Carver County.
• Develop and manage SHIP contracts and grants, including preparing applications, implementation, evaluation, and reporting, to ensure compliance and accountability to the Minnesota Department of Health.
• Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.• Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Public or Community Health, Health Services Administration, Environmental Health, Public Administration, Social Services, or a related field and two (2) years paid work experience in Public Health, Community Health, Environmental Health, Social Services, or other related field

• Master's Degree in Public or Community Health, Health Services Administration, Environmental Health, Public Administration, Social Services, or a related field
and
• Valid MN driver's license and/or evidence of mobility.All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked. The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks and background investigation.
