Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Services (AIS) is seeking a Shift Technical Advisor to provide technical expertise on approved safety basis operations and assess the impact of proposed changes on safe operation. The role is on-site and contingent on funding, with on-call weekend coverage as needed.

Required experience includes a BA/BS in engineering with extensive nuclear related work and DOE O 426.2A familiarity; DOE Q clearance is preferred and pre-employment screening applies.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in engineering or related field with 15-20 years of direct experience, or MA/MS with 14-18 years.
  • Must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major 2 years job-related, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
  • DOE Q Clearance preferred.
  • Pre-employment Drug Screen - External applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
  • Medical Exam(s) - Job related pre-placement medical examinations may be required for this.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of If determined as such, this position would be identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as primary support team member for the Operations Manager and Shift Manager to ensure daily operations are safe, effective, and performed in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Interfacing with support organizations to understand planned operations within the facility and ensure activities are in compliance with facility safety basis authorized work.
  • Performing troubleshooting and improvement activities for emerging issues within the operations management scope of responsibility to resolve issues and improve effectiveness in implementation of compliance requirements.
  • Serving in a project management role as needed for coordination of large, cross-cutting activities within the facility that involve multiple interfaces that cross organizational lines.
  • Presenting technical briefings or presentations, as required, that describe and explain approved facility operations and compliance implementation methods.
  • Evaluating proposed modifications or changes against the approved Documented Safety Analysis via the Unreviewed Safety Question.
  • Determining process to ensure changes are within the scope and methods appropriate for the facility.
  • Provide on-call coverage for assigned weekends based upon a rotation with others in the group; on-call is as needed which may or may not require weekend work for the assigned weekend.
