Job description

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Shift Team Lead located in Richmond, CA through August 25th at 11:59 PM (Local Time). The Shift Team Lead is responsible for coordinating the operation of assigned process units and facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations while achieving production and business objectives. This role provides frontline leadership to operating crews, driving operational excellence, workforce performance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. The Shift Team Lead works closely with refinery leadership, operations planning, and cross-functional teams to optimize refinery performance, maintain operational continuity between shifts, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and process safety requirements. This is a safety-sensitive position that includes shift work and periodic off-shift support as dictated by business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead operating crews to safely achieve production targets and refinery operating objectives.
  • Monitor plant performance, operating conditions, laboratory results, and production rates to ensure on-specification products and operational excellence.
  • Establish clear expectations, track performance, and promote accountability for daily operating goals.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement timely solutions to restore performance and minimize business impact.
  • Ensure effective communication and continuity between operating shifts through quality shift handovers and coordination activities.
  • Provide operational feedback and recommendations to Refinery Shift Leadership, Operations Planning, and management teams to improve business performance.
  • Support execution of weekly and monthly operating plans through effective coordination and communication.
  • Develop workforce capability through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and employee development activities.
  • Conduct routine meetings, including safety meetings, Loss Prevention System stewardship sessions, and daily operating team discussions.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are completed on time, including training, process safety management activities, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure operational incidents are properly reported, documented, investigated, and entered into applicable systems.
  • Communicate operational status, risks, equipment limitations, and business impacts through written and verbal communications.
  • Support refinery optimization initiatives and continuous improvement efforts through leadership and operational discipline.
  • Promote Chevron Way behaviors, Operational Excellence principles, and a strong safety culture.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in refinery, petrochemical, manufacturing, or other industrial operations environments.
  • Experience leading teams, coordinating operations, or providing frontline operational leadership.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a dynamic operating environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in refinery operations, process operations, or production leadership roles.
  • Knowledge of process safety management, operational excellence, and refinery business processes.
  • Experience coaching and developing employees in a shift-based operating environment.
  • Associate’s degree, technical certification, or related education in operations, engineering technology, or a technical discipline.

Salary and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,300 – $180,500.
