The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term position that prepares an employee to perform higher-level supervisory roles, such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. The role involves performing work as directed to prepare for future supervisory responsibilities, completing basic operations and management skills training, and learning about key aspects of the business, including building customer loyalty through exceptional service and CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful completion of the training program, trainees are eligible for promotion to open Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor positions. These leadership roles support the CVS Store Management team in driving store execution and performance, while building customer loyalty through excellent service. When no manager is onsite, the Operations or Shift Supervisor leads the store staff, ensures smooth operations, and oversees opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions

• Apply deductive reasoning, analytical, and computer skills.
• Demonstrate advanced communication skills.
• Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, overnight, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Management Responsibilities

• Work effectively with store management and crew.
• Supervise store crew by assigning, directing, and following up on activities.
• Communicate effectively with management and staff.

Customer Service Responsibilities

• Assist customers with questions, issues, and complaints.
• Promote CVS’s customer service culture (greet, help, thank).
• Handle customer relations issues per company policy, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
• Maintain customer confidentiality.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Deductive reasoning, analytical skills, computer skills, advanced communication skills, flexible schedule.

Preferred Qualifications: Retail experience.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
