Shift Supervisor-Registered Respiratory Therapist-ECMO
Shift Supervisor provides advanced clinical expertise and leadership for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) services. This role is responsible for initiating, monitoring, and maintaining ECMO systems in accordance with established protocols while ensuring patient safety and high-quality care. In addition to direct clinical responsibilities, the Shift Supervisor oversees daily ECMO operations, staff assignments, and competency development, serving as both a clinical resource and team leader.
Education and Experience Required: Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or related science and three (3) years of respiratory care work experience.
Respiratory Care Practitioner from Mississippi Department of Health and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from American Heart Association.
In-depth knowledge of respiratory care and ECMO clinical practice. Advanced troubleshooting, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Supervisory and organizational abilities, including staff scheduling and performance oversight. Strong teaching, mentoring, and leadership abilities. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage flexible scheduling, including on-call shifts. Passing score on annual competency exam and must complete annual safety training. Competency in ECMO system management will be ensured initially and on an ongoing basis, and may include animal models.
