CAMBA serves more than 65,000 individuals and families each year, citywide, including almost 13,000 youth. Our 180+ programs in over 100 locations improve the lives of a diverse cross section of New Yorkers. From homelessness prevention in Staten Island to supportive housing in the Bronx; from employment training in Manhattan to after school programs and college access in Brooklyn; from family shelter and support in Queens to increasing affordable housing across the city, CAMBA provides holistic services to help struggling New Yorkers stabilize their lives and become self-sufficient.

CAMBA operates 6 single adult shelters and 6 family shelters and one drop in center. Each shelter offers clients a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility. Homeless (often mentally-ill and substance-abusing) men and women are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into to permanent and/or supported housing.

CAMBA’s Park Avenue Residenceis funded by New York City Department of Homeless Services and offers families a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility. It provides comprehensive case management services to 63 families who are in a transitional residence program for homeless families. The nine story facility has rooms for various sizes, common areas and provides on-site security and socials services to stabilize.

Reports To:Director of Security & Operations

Location: 4607 Park Avenue, Bronx, NY 10458

What The Shift Supervisor Does:

  • Inputs client data using DHS’ CARES database, as needed
  • Communicate effectively with clients, direct reporting staff, peers, supervisors, and funders
  • Ensure regulatory compliance is met per NYS, OTDA, NYC, FDNY, NYC Dept. Of Health, NYC Coalition for the Homeless
  • Ensure security and residential aide and social services staff conduct new orientation within 24 hours of entry into the facility
  • Ensure the safety and security of operations of the facility by maintaining adequate staff levels
  • Must remain on-site to provide supervisory coverage at all times, including lunch breaks, when working shifts as the only onsite supervisor
  • Ensure inventory of security equipment is up to date
  • Ensure security of valuables and medications in safe/cabinet
  • Retrieve, observe and document client’s self administration of medications, as appropriate
  • Utilize performance management systems to encourage the ongoing communication process with direct staff in order develop, enhance, sustain, and improve the employee’s work performance
  • Professionally respond to complaint, incidents and emergencies and/or incidents and interview all parties and analyze, collect data document and report the situation
  • Resolve individual conflicts and disputes between staff or clients in a respectful and solution-based manner
  • Review and sign timesheets
  • Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting staff
  • Enforce and adhere to the Good Neighbor Policy and respond to community concerns when appropriate

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • HS Diploma or GED and 3 years applicable experience, or Associate’s degree (A.A.) and 2 years’ experience, or Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.W.) and/or equivalent experience

Other Requirements:

  • Must sign NYC DOH/MH attestation stating that candidate has not been the subject of a founded child abuse report
  • Must obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification
  • Must obtain and maintain certification in overdose prevention
  • Must obtain and maintain F-80 Fire Safety Coordinator certification
  • Must obtain and maintain CPI (Crisis Prevention) certified

Compensation: $50,325 annually
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate.This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week) (Sun-Tues & Fri-Sat 12AM-8AM)
