Job description

The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term position designed to prepare employees for higher supervisory roles such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. The trainee performs tasks as directed to develop supervisory skills, completes basic operations and management training, and learns about key aspects of the business, including building customer loyalty through exceptional service and understanding CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful completion of the training, trainees are considered for promotion to open supervisor positions. These leadership roles involve supporting store management in executing store operations, driving performance, and fostering customer loyalty through excellent service. When no manager is onsite, the supervisor leads the staff, ensures smooth operations, and completes opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions:
  1. Management
    • Work effectively with store management and staff
    • Supervise store staff by assigning, directing, and following up on activities
    • Communicate effectively with management and staff
  2. Customer Service
    • Assist customers with questions, problems, and complaints
    • Promote CVS customer service culture (greet, offer help, thank)
    • Handle customer relations issues per company policy to ensure a positive shopping experience
    • Maintain customer/patient confidentiality

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in retail preferred
  • Deductive reasoning, analytical, and computer skills required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed

Additional Information:

This pay range reflects the base hourly or annual salary for positions within this job grade. Actual offers depend on experience, education, location, and other factors.
