Job summary

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a Part-time Shift Supervisor for Campouts/Catering. This role involves assembling campout snacks, preparing and serving meals for zoo programs, and assisting with catering events.

It is a year-round, part-time position with reporting to the Catering Assistant Manager. The incumbent must be 18+, available on weekends/holidays during summer, pass background checks, and have strong math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Detail oriented with strong interpersonal skills and clear communication.
• Ability to perform simple math for daily tasks and inventories.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and odd hours during peak seasons.
• Experience in food handling or catering support is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Counting out and packaging campout snacks.
• Preparing campout breakfasts.
• Preparing and serving campout dinners.
• Preparing and delivering preschool lunches (Sept–May).
• Assisting with catered events and picnics.
• Taking inventory and ordering supplies as needed.
• Completing paperwork accurately and submitting to Catering Manager.
• Supervising part-time/seasonal staff under supervision.

Hours: Up to approximately 24 hours/week; weekend and evening availability required

Pay Rate: $16.83/hour

This is a regular part-time position working up to an average of 24 hours per week annually in an ongoing capacity, pending individual performance. Work schedules may vary week to week, month to month, or seasonally based on operational needs.

Summary

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a Shift Supervisor of Campouts/Catering to assist with putting together campout snacks, preparing and serving meals for various zoo programs, and assisting with catering events when needed. This position is considered year-round, part-time and reports to the Catering Assistant Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Counting out and packaging campout snacks.
• Preparing campout breakfasts.
• Preparing and serving campout dinners.
• Preparing and delivering preschool lunches (September through May).
• Assisting with catered events.
• Assisting with picnics.
• Taking inventory of product weekly and ordering appropriately.
• Accurately preparing and filling out paperwork and submit paperwork to Catering Assistant Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Assist Catering Assistant Manager and Supervisor in supervising all part-time/seasonal employees.

Job Requirements

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays during the summer season.
• Must pass drug screening and background check.
• Ability to work well with guests that will reflect positively on the Zoo.
• Ability to work with employees with a wide range of ages and experience.
• Detail oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
• Willing to work odd hours, some early morning and some late nights.
• Ability to do simple math.
• Some food handling and preparation experience required.
• Able to communicate clearly.

Working Environment and Physical Effort

Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Must wear close toe shoes. While in performance of job duties, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, signal and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch and/or crawl; talk and hear; and frequently lift 25 pounds using safe and proper methods.
