3 Taps is a casual outdoor lakeside bar where patrons can enjoy draft beer and cocktails by the fire while listening to live music. Food and soft drinks are available from The A Truck, a food truck operated by Chautauqua Hotel Company. During the nine-week summer season, tableside and bar service are available from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. During the pre-season (May) and post-season (October), service is typically available Friday to Sunday.

About Your Compensation

Compensation starts at $18.00/hour, with potential to earn up to $20.00/hour based on experience and qualifications.

About Your Work Day

  • Knowledge of beer, wine, and liquor.
  • Prepare mixed drinks according to Athenaeum hotel standards.
  • Receive and prepare bar beverage orders from the service staff.
  • Provide guests with fast-paced bar and cocktail service.
  • Clean glasses, utensils, and the bar area.
  • Restock beer, wine, and glasses as needed.
  • Track all orders through POS system and report daily sales.
  • Monitor complimentary, unwanted, or lost beverages.
  • Know and understand NYS Liquor Laws.
  • Oversee front-of-house staff and monitor restaurant operations.
  • Interact with guests to ensure satisfaction.
  • Maintain standards of a fine dining establishment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work with kitchen staff to ensure quality control.
  • Assist management with cost control and oversee staff operations.
  • Conduct training for seasonal staff.
  • Ensure cleanliness and atmosphere are maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About the Referral Program

Chautauqua Institution offers a referral bonus of $500 (less taxes) for active employees who refer a new hire who remains employed for at least 90 days. For seasonal positions less than 6 months, the new hire must stay employed for at least 30 days and until the season's end.

About Your Schedule

Flexible full and part-time schedules are available during the summer season, starting in June and ending in August. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shifts usually start between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m.

About Living on the Grounds

Limited housing may be available on grounds or nearby, but candidates should not assume employer-provided housing unless stated.
