Job summary

Apex International is seeking a 2nd Shift Supervisor to lead overnight production operations at our Eden Prairie, MN facility. You will supervise teams, run start-of-shift meetings, and drive performance to meet schedule, safety, quality, and cost goals within a Lean culture.

Responsibilities include coaching a 6–8 group leads and 35–55 hourly staff, promoting discipline and accountability, and applying Lean tools while ensuring SOPs are followed and continuous improvement is pursued.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of manufacturing experience in a regulated industry.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Overnight Production Operations and supervise production teams to meet daily schedule and performance targets.
• Conduct start-of-shift meetings to communicate goals and expectations.
• Monitor workflow and address bottlenecks to maintain continuous line operation.
• Coach, motivate, and develop employees to build a high-performing team and address performance concerns.
• Apply Lean tools and reinforce 5S standards; ensure SOPs and Work Instructions are followed.

We are currently seeking a 2nd Shift Supervisor to join our team based in Eden Prairie, MN. This role works onsite at our production facility and is responsible for leading overnight production operations to ensure output meets or exceeds schedule, safety, quality, and cost goals while supporting a strong Lean manufacturing culture.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead Overnight Production Operations

• Supervise and support production teams to meet daily schedule and performance targets.
• Conduct start-of-shift meetings to communicate goals and expectations.
• Monitor workflow and proactively address bottlenecks to maintain continuous line operation.
• Maintain a strong floor presence to coach, motivate, and ensure accountability.
• Take corrective action when goals are not being met.

1. Support Lean & Continuous Improvement

• Apply Lean tools and reinforce 5S standards (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
• Utilize metrics to identify gaps and drive improvements.
• Ensure SOPs and Work Instructions are followed consistently.
• Promote a culture of discipline, quality, and zero defects.

1. Maintain Safety & Compliance

• Ensure OSHA and company safety standards are followed at all times.
• Oversee housekeeping, sanitation, and equipment cleaning procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and SAFE work environment.

1. Develop & Lead the Team

• Directly oversee 6–8 Group Lead employees with indirect responsibility for 35 - 55 hourly team members and temporary workers.
• Coach, train, and develop employees to build a high-performing team.
• Address performance concerns and conduct evaluations in alignment with Apex values.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of manufacturing experience in a regulated industry required.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience).
• Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and batch processing.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Indoor manufacturing environment; exposure to fragrances at times.
• Frequent standing and walking; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
• 3rd shift schedule (hours may vary based on business needs).
• Additional hours may be required depending on production demands.
