Primanti Bros. Restaurant & Bar in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Shift Supervisor to help run daily operations at our Oakland location.

This on-site, part-time role supports beverage and food service, coach team members, and ensures adherence to policy, safety, and quality standards. Key responsibilities include assisting with ordering, receiving, inventory, cash handling, and daily deposits; training players; resolving guest concerns; and maintaining a clean, compliant environment.

Qualifications

• Read and write in English; communicate clearly with Fans and Players.
• Able to stand and walk for full shifts; lift up to 50 lbs and perform in a hot, damp kitchen.
• Familiarity with knives, slicers, and basic kitchen equipment.
• Willingness to train and coach team members; handle routine cash and safety tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with administrative duties including ordering, receiving, inventory, and P&L controls.
• Train potential Players and provide direction to team; coach performance.
• Handle daily financial tasks like cash handling and deposits.
• Investigate and resolve food quality and service issues.
• Oversee cleaning and maintenance to meet health and safety rules.
• Lead by example and mentor team; collaborate with management.
• Operate computer hardware and software as needed.
• May cover Service Assistant, Line Cook, Server, or Bartender duties when required.

SHIFT SUPERVISOR PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Key Coaches support the Coach Team in all aspects of running a clean, safe environment while maintaining the highest quality standards with beverages, food, and Fan service.

SHIFT SUPERVISOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assists with multiple administrative duties including ordering, receiving, inventory, and P&L controls.
• Trains potential Players.
• Provides direction to Players, evaluates, and coaches their performance.
• Assists management team with daily financial responsibilities (cash handling, daily deposits, authorizes comps & voids, etc.)
• Investigates and resolves food quality and service complaints.
• Oversees cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facility to ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to.
• Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization. Leads by example and fosters mentoring relationships.
• Works effectively with management team and Players. Uses a high degree of initiative, judgement, and discretion. Rectifies any Fan complaints.
• Operates a computer and all associated hardware (MS Office, internet, LMS).
• When needed, may perform the duties of a Service Assistant, Line Cook, Server, or Bartender.
• Performs other duties as needed per Coach request.

SHIFT SUPERVISOR QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to verbalize and clearly respond to Fans and Players.
• Stands/walks 100% of the shift.
• Reaches, bends, stoops, and wipes frequently.
• Lifts and carries up to 50lbs, up to 20 times per shift; places these items on high shelves and in walk‑in cooler and/or freezer.
• Works frequently in damp, hot work environment.
• Works with an open flame.
• Uses sharp knives and utensils.
• May use slicers or other kitchen machinery.
• Ability to hold items with hands (knives, pans) for extended periods of time, with up to 5lb of weight.
