Job summary

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in manufacturing with supervisory experience and knowledge of refinery processes. SAP experience and emergency response background are preferred as you will guide a diverse team through daily challenges and outages.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of plant operations for assigned area/shift.
  • Communicate effectively with hourly and management to facilitate smooth operations and achieve long-term organizational goals
  • Foster collaboration and effective communication across teams.
  • Provide clear work direction aligned with organizational goals during all aspects of operation.
  • Promote safety, environmental compliance, operational efficiency, and a culture of accountability.
  • Make timely, informed decisions and resolve operational challenges.
  • Review product quality to ensure production of quality products, achieve targets, and prepare equipment for maintenance.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting to solve operating problems.
  • Ensure crew compliance with all Operational Excellence requirements (shift handover, operator rounds, MOC implementation, procedure compliance, housekeeping, etc.).
  • Initiate incident investigations including statement collection and data gathering.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members to maximize performance; increase bench strength of crew.
  • Evaluate operator performance providing coaching and discipline as needed.
  • Drive change management and adoption of new processes.
  • Execute assigned accounting tasks to manage movement of oil through the plant.
  • Complete applicable procurement tasks to obtain required materials and supplies.
  • Ensure decision making is at the right level.
  • Act as Incident Commander during site emergencies until others arrive.
  • Special assignments as determined by management.

BASIC FUNCTION:

HF Sinclair is hiring for a Shift Supervisor for our Petrolia, Pennsylvania facility. The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for the immediate supervision of assigned Petrolia Plant on-shift represented employees maintaining safety, environmental, and production standards with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Additional educational experience, degrees, and/or certifications in a relevant field.
  • Emergency response experience.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge/understanding of refinery/lubricants/specialties processes.
  • SAP experience.
EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, is required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Motivation to accomplish goals working both independently and as a member of a diverse team.
  • Capable of optimizing production through identifying and solving problems related to the operation of our assets within assigned areas.
  • Ability to handle high visibility projects and activities, high pressure situations, and long hours while maintaining a positive and constructive attitude.
  • Team player who effectively communicates with others through written and verbal communication.
  • Effective at collaborating with all levels of staff including engineers, operators, shift, and maintenance personnel.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Will rotate with other supervisors to provide plantwide 24/7 leadership to bargaining unit employees ensuring they perform work safely, efficiently and to a quality standard.

WORK CONDITIONS:

24 hours per day/7 days per week/365 days per year rotating shift schedule including weekends and holidays. Additional time requirements during scheduled/unscheduled outages and emergencies. Performs work in both indoor office environment and outdoor settings. Subject to all weather, temperatures, and varying road conditions. Petroleum plant and outdoor environment with items including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, and confined spaces. Subject to occasional weekend and after-hour callouts. Up to 5% travel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing and/or pulling 25 lbs, climbing up to 150 ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates, valid State driver's license and proof of insurance required, ability to wear personal protective equipment (beards not permitted), and strenuous physical activity.
