Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC is looking for a proactive Shift Supervisor for the Mt. Jewett, PA MDF facility. The supervisor will manage a team of production associates, ensuring production, quality, safety, and reliability targets are met, all while leading by example in a fast-paced environment.

Overview

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a proactive Shift Supervisor for the Mt. Jewett, PA MDF facility. The role will lead the 2nd shift with some weekend coverage and may cover for other supervisors as needed. This leader will manage, mentor, and coach a team of up to eighteen production associates to achieve production, quality, safety, and reliability targets at the Mt. Jewett MDF site.

Mt. Jewett, PA offers access to outdoor recreation and is located near larger cities such as Erie and the New York State Line.

What You Will Do
  • Facilitate team development and growth, employee skill development, problem-solving, and resolution; build employee commitment and ownership and hold employees accountable.
  • Identify and execute initiatives that drive improvements in competitive position, deliver value to the business, and meet key objectives.
  • Supervise and coordinate production efforts to drive continuous improvement in all work processes affecting safety, compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs.
  • Lead a wood products production team to work injury-free/incident-free in a continuous manufacturing process.
  • Foster an environment aligned with Principle Based Management philosophy and framework.
  • Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively eliminate hazards.
  • Monitor product quality and provide direction to crew members to maximize production efficiency; provide safety training, coaching, and performance management through Principle Based Management processes; mentor crew members to develop their knowledge, skills, and abilities for career advancement.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • OSB Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory/team management experience OR a bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of general safe work practices
  • Problem solving/Root Cause Analysis
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and ability to learn various PC-based production reporting systems
  • Able to work an 8- or 12-hour rotating shift schedule - days/evenings/weekends
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
