Job summary

Owens Corning's Houston Roofing Plant seeks an Operation Quality Assurance Technician. This hourly, non-exempt role reports to the Front Line Leader and Tech Leader, and is responsible for raw material, finished goods, and audit testing to ensure product quality and process compliance.

You will support TPM initiatives, calibrate lab equipment, review customer complaints, and compile daily quality reports. A strong eye for detail, math skills, and rotating shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• Read, write, and speak English; bilingual a plus
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations
• Fast-paced, self-motivated and directed work style
• Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
• Thorough knowledge of the production department
• Mechanically inclined
• Ability to lead root cause analysis on process issues
• Ability to lead teams, meetings, and the shift
• High attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Perform all product/raw material testing
• Monitor and report unusual material issues; place on Hold if needed
• Understand and apply control and reaction procedures
• Lead Monthly quality audits
• Lead at least 1 quality improvement initiative per year
• Review quality complaints with leadership and shift operators
• Visit complaints and prepare trip reports detailing issues
• Perform all shift raw material and daily product testing
• Maintain 100% calibration compliance for lab and production equipment
• Assist and evaluate customer complaints in-house and in the field
• Ensure UL standards are met; coordinate with UL inspectors
• Do daily quality reporting and charts for meetings (e.g., scrubs, weights, tears)
• Perform daily weight calibrations and adjust scanners
• Perform daily filler burns to ensure material compliance
