Caterpillar Inc. has an opening for a 1st Shift Production Manager in the Waco, TX area. The role requires leading a team, maintaining and improving manufacturing processes, and ensuring safe operations on the shop floor while meeting production targets.

Ideal candidates bring 3–4 years of shop floor experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Willingness to work overtime and relocate to the Waco area is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or 5+ years of related experience.
• 3-4 years of strategic planning experience.
• 3-4 years of shop floor experience with mechanical aptitude.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Willing to work overtime and alternate shifts.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate unsafe operations and maintain a clean environment.
• Determine processing needs to ensure fixtures, tooling and methods meet schedules and production requirements.
• Plan facility workload, priorities and sequence in coordination with production management.
• Decide on overtime, prioritize resources, and manage disciplinary actions as needed.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
• Improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value-added activities.
• Ensure product quality and compliance with Caterpillar quality policy while controlling cost.
• Order and distribute necessary parts and materials in a timely and efficient manner.
• Implement Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, CQMS/ISO initiatives and related corporate programs.
• Train and develop staff, manage timekeeping, staffing needs, and assign work.
