Purpose:

The Manager I (MGRI) position assists branch management in executing QSR or similar restaurant management operations. The MGRI ensures the restaurant is clean, operational, staffed, and meets high standards. The MGRI follows policies and procedures to make management decisions.

Essential Functions:

  1. Completes opening, daily, and closing procedures/checklists as per company policies.
  2. Assists the AGM/GM in managing by supervising daily activities of associates within designated restaurants or points-of-sale.
  3. Participates in hiring, provides input for termination, promotion, or other status changes, and recommends these to the GM.
  4. Assigns tasks, prepares schedules, and ensures shifts are covered.
  5. Ensures associates take mandated rest and meal breaks.
  6. Maintains display areas to be clean, stocked, and visually appealing.
  7. Checks that all equipment is functional.
  8. Operates cash registers, processes transactions, and maintains cash security following HMSHost policies.
  9. Monitors wellness and safety compliance, reports concerns, and promotes safety awareness.
  10. Performs all health and safety activities as per the Manager’s Guide to Associate Health and Safety.
  11. Places orders, receives goods, and processes invoices.
  12. Ensures current contact information for all restaurant associates is maintained.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work various shifts, including opening, busy times, and closing.
  • Knowledge of applicable sanitation, safety, and health standards, including HACCP.

Reporting Relationships and Other Information:

  • The MGRI position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Typically reports to the General Manager, Director of Operations, or a Multi-Unit Manager.
  • Requires a varied, rotating schedule to cover different shifts throughout the week.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

  • Minimum 2 years of food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service experience.
  • Minimum 6 months of supervisory or lead experience in a restaurant or kitchen.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, read instructions, and engage with customers comfortably.
