Position Overview

A Shift Leader is a variable hour employee responsible for specific shifts, overseeing daily restaurant operations to enhance guest and team satisfaction. They work during peak hours, ensure team coordination, and handle operations safely in the absence of a manager. Responsibilities vary based on restaurant needs.

Job Responsibilities
Profitability
  • Ensure food, drinks, and desserts follow recipes and are logged in POS.
  • Organize shift readiness, manage waste and prep to control costs.
  • Operate equipment properly, troubleshoot minor issues, and report unsafe conditions.
  • Follow cash handling policies.
Guests
  • Greet guests warmly and promptly.
  • Ensure an exceptional visit, resolve issues positively.
  • Inspect all areas, engage with guests, and promote excellent service.
  • Handle guest complaints in absence of higher management.
Team
  • Train and develop staff following training plans.
  • Manage breaks and health policies.
  • Ensure staff are fit for duty and report concerns.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive work environment, reporting issues promptly.
Operations
  • Manage food safety and safety procedures.
  • Support marketing and promotional activities.
  • Use headsets for communication, coach staff as needed.
  • Handle basic equipment maintenance and operational standards.
  • Communicate with management and supervise on-shift personnel.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Pass criminal background check.
  • Basic computer skills and effective communication.
  • Responsible, punctual, respectful, energetic, empathetic.
  • Problem-solving skills in collaboration with restaurant leaders.
Education and Work Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Serv Safe and Sexual Harassment Certificates required.
  • Shift control training completed and validated.
  • External hires: 6+ months food/retail lead experience.
  • Experience with POS systems preferred.
Tools and Equipment
  • Kitchen appliances, safety gear, cutting tools, beverage equipment, POS systems, janitorial supplies.
