Position Overview
A Shift Leader is a variable hour Ambrosia QSR employee responsible for managing specific shifts to enhance guest and team satisfaction and support restaurant initiatives. They work in the front of the restaurant during peak hours, ensuring team coordination and guest experience. Shift Leaders are proficient in all team member roles and can operate safely without a manager present. Responsibilities vary based on restaurant needs.
Job Responsibilities
Profitability
- Ensure all food orders, specialty drinks, and desserts follow company recipes and are accurately recorded in the POS system.
- Organize shift readiness and position team members to meet sales demands. Manage waste and prep systems to control expenses.
- Use equipment and products as intended, troubleshoot minor issues, and report unsafe or non-working equipment immediately. Ensure safety equipment is used.
- Follow all cash handling policies.
Guests
- Greet every guest with friendliness and urgency.
- Ensure an exceptional visit for every guest; resolve issues positively.
- Inspect parking lot, bathrooms, dining areas, and engage with guests.
- Promote excellent customer service with a guest-first attitude.
- Handle guest complaints in the absence of higher management.
Team
- Train and develop staff following training plans.
- Ensure employees take scheduled breaks and adhere to work limitations.
- Prevent sick or unfit employees from performing duties.
- Report complaints immediately.
- Promote a safe, inclusive work environment, reporting concerns promptly.
Operations
- Manage food safety and safety procedures.
- Implement marketing plans and promotions.
- Use headsets for communication, providing coaching when needed.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Ensure daily safety and operational standards.
- Communicate with management as needed.
- Supervise on-shift personnel and work front-of-house to support guest service.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be 18+ years old.
- Authorized to work in the US.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Basic computer skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Responsible, punctual, respectful, and energetic leadership.
- Problem-solving skills in collaboration with restaurant leaders.
Education and Work Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Serv Safe Certification required.
- Sexual Harassment Certification required.
- Shift control training completed and validated.
- External hires: 6+ months food/retail lead experience.
- Experience with POS systems preferred.
Tools and Equipment
- Kitchen equipment: toasters, fryers, ovens, microwaves, etc.
- Food prep tools: slicers, choppers, gloves.
- Beverage equipment: soda machines, coffee makers, blenders.
- POS systems, cash registers, timekeeping tools.
- Cleaning supplies: brooms, chemicals, etc.
