A Shift Leader is a variable hour Ambrosia QSR employee who, after proper certification, is put in charge of limited time segments for the daily operations of a specific restaurant location. Shift Leaders are responsible for assigned shifts with the goal of enhancing guest and team satisfaction and supporting restaurant initiatives. They work in the front during peak hours to ensure team coordination and a quality guest experience. Job Responsibilities
Profitability
- Ensure all food orders, specialty drinks, and desserts follow company recipes and are accurately recorded in the POS system.
- Organize shift readiness and position team members to meet sales demands. Manage waste and prep systems to control expenses.
- Use equipment and products properly; troubleshoot minor equipment issues; report unsafe or non-working equipment; ensure safety equipment is used.
- Follow all cash handling policies.
Guests
- Greet every guest with friendliness and urgency.
- Ensure every guest has an exceptional visit; resolve issues positively.
- Inspect parking lot, bathrooms, dining areas; engage with guests at their tables about their experience.
- Demonstrate guest-first behavior and promote excellent service.
- Handle guest complaints in the absence of higher management.
Team
- Train and develop staff according to training plans.
- Ensure employees take required breaks and adhere to work limitations.
- Prevent sick employees from working; report complaints immediately.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, harassment-free work environment; report concerns promptly.
Operations
- Manage food safety and follow safety procedures.
- Implement marketing plans; prepare staff for promotions.
- Use headsets to monitor team interactions; provide coaching as needed.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Ensure food safety compliance and operational standards daily.
- Communicate with management as necessary.
- Work in the front to deliver excellent guest service and support team members.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be 18+ years old.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Basic computer skills and effective communication.
- Personal responsibility, punctuality, professionalism, and leadership qualities.
Education and Work Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- ServSafe and Sexual Harassment Certificates required.
- Completed shift control training validated by management.
- External hires need 6+ months of food/retail lead experience.
- Experience with POS systems preferred.
Tools and Equipment
- Kitchen equipment: toasters, fryers, ovens, microwaves, etc., with safety gear.
- Cutting tools: slicers, choppers, with gloves.
- Beverage equipment: soda machines, coffee makers, etc.
- POS and timekeeping systems.
