Job summary

Prysmian is seeking a Team Lead for a 12-hour rotating shift in a 24/7 fiber optic cable manufacturing plant in North Carolina. The role focuses on maintaining safety and quality standards while achieving production goals.

You will re-assign staff, manage priorities, and monitor operator performance. The position requires a HS diploma and 2+ years of progressive management experience, preferably in manufacturing and the optical fiber cabling sector.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent is required.
• AS Degree is preferred.
• Progressive management experience is required (2+ years).
• Experience in manufacturing environments is preferred.
• Experience in optical fiber cabling industry is preferred.
• Must be customer-focused and able to interact with visitors.

Responsibilities

• Deliver production objectives and make quality decisions on shift.
• Execute shift operations plan by process area and priorities.
• Re-assign staffing resources based on current requirements.
• Manage MRR queue and track operator performance.
• Prepare and deliver end-of-shift turnover meetings.
• Ensure all product meets requirements per Quality Management Systems.
• Comply with safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines.
• Conduct month-end inventory counts as needed.
• Serve on site spill team and lead plant evacuation as needed.
• Act as a first responder when required.

Job Overview

The Team Lead oversees one of four rotating 12‑hour shifts in a 24/7 fiber optic cable manufacturing plant (7 am to 7 pm and 7 pm to 7 am). The team lead maintains safety and quality standards and ensures production goals are met while complying with company policy and regulations.

Team Responsibilities

• Deliver production objectives and make quality decisions on shift.
• Execute shift operations plan by process area, focusing on work movement and production priorities.
• Re‑assign staffing resources based on current requirements or changes.
• Manage MRR queue.
• Track, evaluate, and develop individual operator performance.
• Prepare and deliver end‑of‑shift turnover meetings.
• Ensure all product meets requirements defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems.
• Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines.
• Conduct month‑end inventory counts as needed.
• Serve on the site spill team, lead the plant evacuation team, and act as a first responder.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent – required. AS Degree – preferred.
• At least two (2) years of progressive management experience – required.
• Experience in manufacturing environments – preferred.
• Management experience in the optical fiber cabling industry – preferred.
• Must be quality‑ and customer‑focused, versatile, and enjoy interaction with customers and other visitors.
• Motivated team player – participate and contribute to a constructive working environment.
• Demonstrate administrative aptitude, time‑management skills, and the ability to multi‑task.
• Capable of remaining calm and professional when dealing with stressful circumstances.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills required.
