A Shift Leader is a variable hour Ambrosia QSR employee who, after proper certification, is responsible for overseeing specific restaurant operations during assigned shifts. The role aims to enhance guest and team satisfaction and support restaurant initiatives. Shift Leaders work in the front during peak hours to ensure team coordination and guest satisfaction. They are proficient in all team member roles and can operate safely in the absence of a manager. Responsibilities vary based on restaurant needs and include:

Job Responsibilities
Profitability
  • Ensure all food orders, specialty drinks, and desserts follow company recipes and are accurately recorded in the POS system.
  • Prepare for shifts and allocate team members to meet sales demands. Manage waste and prep systems to control costs.
  • Operate equipment and troubleshoot minor issues; report unsafe or non-working equipment immediately. Ensure safety equipment use.
  • Follow cash handling policies.
Guests
  • Greet guests with friendliness and urgency.
  • Ensure an exceptional visit for every guest; resolve issues positively.
  • Inspect restaurant areas and interact with guests to ensure satisfaction.
  • Promote excellent customer service with a guest-first attitude.
  • Handle guest complaints in the absence of senior management.
Team
  • Train and develop staff following established plans.
  • Ensure staff take breaks and adhere to work limitations.
  • Prevent sick staff from working.
  • Report complaints promptly.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free work environment; report concerns immediately.
Operations
  • Manage food safety and safety procedures.
  • Implement marketing and promotional plans.
  • Use headsets for communication; provide coaching and redirection.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Ensure food safety and operational standards daily.
  • Communicate with management as needed.
  • Work in front to deliver excellent service and support.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be 18+ years old.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Serv Safe and Sexual Harassment Certificates required.
  • Shift control training validated by management.
  • External hires require 6+ months of food/retail leadership experience.
  • Experience with POS systems preferred.
Tools and Equipment
  • Kitchen equipment: toasters, fryers, ovens, microwaves, etc.
  • Cutting tools with safety gloves.
  • Beverage equipment: soda machines, blenders, coffee makers.
  • POS and timekeeping systems.
  • Cleaning supplies and chemicals.
