Position Overview
A Shift Leader is a variable hour Ambrosia QSR employee responsible for managing specific shifts to ensure smooth daily operations. This role involves working front-of-house during peak hours, supporting team and guest satisfaction, and stepping in for managers when needed. Responsibilities include overseeing food safety, customer service, team training, and operational standards. Responsibilities may vary based on restaurant needs.
Job Responsibilities
Profitability
- Ensure all food orders and beverages follow company recipes and are accurately recorded in the POS system.
- Organize shift readiness, assign team members, and manage waste and prep to control costs.
- Operate equipment safely, troubleshoot minor issues, and report unsafe conditions.
- Follow cash handling policies.
Guests
- Greet guests warmly and with urgency.
- Ensure a positive experience for every guest and resolve issues positively.
- Conduct restaurant walk-throughs to check cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
- Handle guest complaints in the absence of higher management.
Team
- Train and develop staff according to training plans.
- Ensure staff take breaks and do not work if unfit for duty.
- Report complaints promptly.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free work environment.
Operations
- Manage food safety and safety procedures.
- Assist with marketing and promotions training.
- Use headsets to monitor team interactions and provide coaching.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Communicate with management and supervise on-shift staff.
- Work front-of-house to support guest service.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be 18+ years old and authorized to work in the U.S.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Proficient with computers and communication.
- Responsible, punctual, respectful, and energetic leader.
- Problem-solving skills aligned with restaurant needs.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Serv Safe and Sexual Harassment Certificates required.
- Shift control training validated by management.
- External hires: 6+ months food/retail lead experience preferred.
- Experience with POS systems preferred.
Tools and Equipment
- Kitchen appliances, slicers, beverage machines, POS systems, and janitorial supplies.
