A Shift Leader is a variable hour Ambrosia QSR employee who, after proper certification, is responsible for overseeing specific time segments of daily restaurant operations. They are tasked with enhancing guest and team satisfaction while supporting restaurant initiatives. Shift Leaders work in the front of the restaurant during peak hours to ensure team coordination and a quality guest experience. They are proficient in all team member roles and can safely manage operations in the absence of a manager. Responsibilities vary based on the restaurant's needs and include the following:
Job Responsibilities
Profitability
- Ensure all food orders, specialty drinks, and desserts follow company recipes and are properly recorded in the POS system.
- Prepare for shifts and assign team members to meet sales demands. Manage waste and prep systems to control costs.
- Use equipment and products appropriately; troubleshoot minor issues and report unsafe or non-functional equipment immediately. Ensure safety equipment is used.
- Adhere to cash handling policies.
Guests
- Greet guests with friendliness and urgency.
- Ensure a positive experience for every guest; resolve issues positively.
- Inspect the restaurant environment and engage with guests to ensure satisfaction.
- Demonstrate guest-first behavior and promote excellent service.
- Handle guest complaints in the absence of management.
Team
- Train and develop staff according to training plans.
- Ensure employees take required breaks and adhere to work limitations.
- Prevent sick or unfit employees from working.
- Report complaints promptly.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free work environment; report concerns immediately.
Operations
- Manage food safety and restaurant safety procedures.
- Implement marketing plans and ensure staff are prepared for promotions.
- Use headsets to monitor team interactions, providing praise or coaching as needed.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Maintain food safety and operational standards daily.
- Communicate with management as necessary.
- Work in the front of the restaurant to deliver excellent guest service and support team members.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be 18+ years old.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Proficient with basic computer functions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Work Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Serv Safe and Sexual Harassment Certificates required.
- Complete shift control training validated by management.
- External hires need 6+ months of food/retail leadership experience.
- Experience with POS systems preferred.
Necessary Tools and Equipment
- Kitchen equipment: toasters, fryers, ovens, microwaves, etc., with safety gear.
- Food prep tools: slicers, choppers, gloves.
- Beverage equipment: soda machines, coffee makers, blenders.
- POS systems, cash registers, timekeeping devices.
- Cleaning supplies: brooms, chemicals, towels, etc.
