Shift Leader
Position Overview
A Shift Leader is a variable hour Ambrosia QSR employee responsible for managing specific shifts, ensuring smooth restaurant operations, guest satisfaction, and team support. They work front-of-house during peak hours, are proficient in all team roles, and can operate safely without a manager present. Responsibilities vary based on restaurant needs and include overseeing operations, guest service, team training, and safety compliance.
Job Responsibilities
Profitability
- Ensure all food orders and desserts follow company recipes and are recorded in the POS system.
- Prepare for shifts, assign team roles, manage waste and prep systems to control costs.
- Operate and troubleshoot equipment, report unsafe conditions, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Follow cash handling policies.
Guests
- Greet guests with friendliness and urgency.
- Ensure an exceptional guest experience, resolve issues positively.
- Conduct restaurant walkthroughs, engage with guests, and address complaints in the absence of managers.
Team
- Train and develop staff according to training plans.
- Manage breaks and minor work limitations.
- Ensure staff with symptoms do not work.
- Report complaints promptly and promote a safe, inclusive work environment.
Operations
- Manage food safety and safety procedures.
- Implement marketing and promotional plans.
- Use headsets to monitor team interactions and provide feedback.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, ensure compliance, and communicate with leadership.
Qualifications And Skills
- Must be 18+ years old.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Pass criminal background check.
- Basic computer skills and effective communication.
- Responsible, punctual, respectful, energetic, and empathetic leadership.
- Problem-solving with restaurant leaders.
Education and Work Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Serv Safe and Sexual Harassment Certificates required.
- Shift control training validated by management.
- External hires need 6+ months food/retail lead experience.
- POS system experience preferred.
Necessary Tools and Equipment
- Kitchen appliances, safety gear, slicers, beverage machines, POS systems, janitorial supplies.
