Job summary

Allseas Group S.A. is seeking a Shift Leader Deck to ensure safe and efficient operation of deck machinery and mission systems on offshore vessels worldwide.

You will supervise technical staff, oversee maintenance, and monitor equipment while coordinating with a cross-functional team under senior engineers and the Chief Engineer. The role requires CoC III/2 or Mechanical Engineer (BSc), B1 English, and strong knowledge of pipelay, offshore cranes, hydraulics and automation.

Qualifications

• General technical education and STCW compliance.
• CoC level III/2 or Mechanical Engineer (BSc) required.
• B1 level English proficiency (spoken and written).
• Knowledge of pipelay processes, offshore cranes, hydraulics, wire ropes and industrial automation.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Fulfillment of company training/qualification requirements.
• Strong communication, leadership and helicopter view.

Responsibilities

• Supervising technical staff during your shift.
• Overseeing planned maintenance, fault finding and repairs on deck and mission systems.
• Making rounds to monitor deck technical equipment and operations.
• Maintaining awareness of ongoing work and equipment status.
• Ensuring shift safety and efficiency per AIMS standards.
• Cooperating with other project departments.
• Acting as deputy for First Engineer Deck or First Mechanic when required.
• Handling planned maintenance and statutory logbooks in a timely manner.
• Ensuring proper levels of hydraulic fluids, gear oil, grease, etc.
• Operating machinery safely and economically.
• Ensuring thorough shift handover per standing orders.
• Keeping personal documentation up to date (passport, seaman's book, medical certificate, CoC, STCW).
• Performing duties on station bill and fulfilling ship security duties.
• On pipelay vessels: set up pipelay equipment and monitor process; propose improvements.
• On construction vessels: assist Construction Department with heavy lift equipment and ROV department as needed.

Job description

As Shift Leader Deck, you are essential to the safe and efficient operation of our vessels’ deck machinery and mission systems. You’ll work on offshore projects worldwide, reporting to the First Engineer Deck, First Mechanic, and Chief Engineer, and collaborating with a skilled technical team.

Your responsibilities include:

• Supervising technical staff or crew under your care during your shift.
• Overseeing the execution of planned maintenance, fault finding, and repair activities on deck and mission systems.
• Making rounds along deck technical equipment to monitor and control operations.
• Maintaining awareness of ongoing work in deck technical spaces and the status of equipment.
• Ensuring your shift is carried out efficiently and safely, in line with Allseas Integrated Management System (AIMS) standards.
• Ensuring smooth cooperation with other project-related departments.
• Acting as deputy for the First Engineer Deck or First Mechanic when required by the Chief Engineer.
• Timely administration, including planned maintenance and statutory logbooks.
• Ensuring all operational fluid levels (e.g., hydraulic fluids, gear oil, grease) are adequate.
• Operating machinery under your supervision as environmentally friendly and economically as possible.
• Ensuring thorough shift handover as per standing orders, both verbally and in writing.
• Keeping all personal documentation, such as passport, seaman's book, medical certificate, CoC, and safety (STCW) training certificates, up-to-date and valid.
• Performing duties as indicated on the station bill and fulfilling ship security duties.
• When working on pipelay vessels: set up pipelay mission equipment, monitor the pipelay process and propose improvements when required.
• When working on construction vessels: assist and advise the Construction Department in the use of heavy lift equipment and assist the ROV department when deemed necessary by the Chief Engineer.

You will also have the authority to stop the job if safety or compliance is at risk, in line with the Allseas Integrated Management System, and to initiate necessary actions in an emergency situation. What we expect from you

To succeed as Shift Leader Deck at Allseas, you should have:

• General technical education and compliance with all STCW requirements.
• In possession of CoC with competency level III/2 "Second Engineer with NO limitations" or Mechanical Engineer (BSc).
• B1 level English proficiency (spoken and written).
• Adequate knowledge of pipelay processes, offshore cranes, and hydraulics, wire ropes and industrial automation.
• Good command of MS Office applications.
• Fulfillment of all training and qualification requirements in accordance with company standards.
• Strong communication, leadership and helicopter view.
