Job summary

Blue Origin in Kent, WA is seeking a supervisor to lead a technicians team in precision cleaning, chemical processing, and inspection of aerospace hardware for propulsion modules, engines and subassemblies. You will oversee shift staffing, performance, training records, and ensure 5S and FOD controls are followed.

The role partners with engineers to review concepts, support tests, and drive process improvements, while safeguarding quality per IEST-STD-CC1246 and AMS2700 standards.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years leading teams working on fluid systems with applied chemistry fundamentals, including passivation per AMS2700 and verification per IEST-STD-CC1246.
  • 1+ years supervising production in a manufacturing supply chain.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing or maintenance of chemical, fluid, and mechanical components such as pumps, turbines, tubing, instrumentation, valves, and associated rocket components.
  • Certification in and/or knowledge of precision cleaning, chemical processing (degreasing, passivation per AMS2700, etch), and hardware inspection per IEST-STD-CC1246.
  • Knowledge of drawing and work order review, and familiarity with issue tracking systems.
  • Strong organization and people skills in a team environment with multiple dynamic priorities.
  • Ability to supervise small teams on multiple shifts, with the following production work schedules: Shift B (Mon-Thurs 3p-1:30a)
  • Familiarity with standard aerospace manufacturing materials and chemical compatibility.
  • Experience inspecting and troubleshooting aerospace or military hardware.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface with software systems, databases and Microsoft Office Suite.

As part of a hardworking operations team, you will supervise a team of technicians in the precision cleaning, chemical processing, and inspection of aerospace hardware for various spaceflight systems. You will lead the team in all aspects of propulsion module, engine, and subassembly manufacturing. The Cleaning, Passivation, and Verification Lab is a critical part of the company’s Integrated Supply Chain. A supervisor in this role will perform daily tasks including:

Our team is a direct supplier to all of Blue’s Business Units, and executes for New Shepard, New Glenn, Blue Moon, and the Blue Engines programs.

The Kent, WA Cleaning, Passivation, and Verification team provides a crucial, integrated service that supplies all Blue Origin operational sites.

For this supervisory position, we are seeking somebody excited to work in a fast-paced, high-output environment, who is passionate about space and has a strong desire to continuously learn and improve. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Qualifications

  • Ability to use standard assembly tools and high-precision laboratory equipment (computerized microscopes, titrators, rotary flash evaporators, solvent distilling systems, etc).
  • Attention to detail, passion for space and for success.
Physical Requirements
  • Climb ladders and stairs, and work in small, restricted areas
  • Lift and carry 25 lbs.
Compensation

Base Pay Range for: WA applicants is $47.82 - $66.94
