Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Seattle is seeking a Shift Leader for Additive Manufacturing Post-Processing on the C shift. You will lead a team of post-processing technicians and machinists, align priorities with engineers and quality, and maintain 5S practices to meet build commitments.

The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing with 1–3+ years of leadership, GD&T reading, EDM/bandsaw experience, and strong communication in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years in manufacturing operations with 1-3+ years leading technicians on off-shift operations.
  • Proficiency reading engineering drawings and GD&T; in-process inspection experience.
  • Experience with EDMs, bandsaws and basic machining; tensile specimen prep a plus.
  • Strong communication, prioritization and problem-solving in a safety-critical environment.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.As part of a hardworking team of C & D-shift technicians and machinists you will lead the team in all aspects of Additive Manufacturing Post-Processing, consisting of powder removal, support removal, EDM machining, tensile turning/testing, inspection, and various other tasks related to manufacturing.**Special Mentions** - Relocation provided- Friday - Sunday 5am to 530pm**Responsibilities include but are not limited to:** - Lead and develop a team of post-processing technicians and machinists across the C/D shift; set priorities, assign work, manage break coverage, and ensure safe, compliant operations. - Coordinate priorities with manufacturing engineers, planners, and quality to meet build plans and promise dates. - Proactively identify and remove blockers (e.g., nonconformances, stop-work, missing tools/fixtures, document errors). - Enforce safety policies for metal AM post-processing (powders, fumes, sharp edges, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, ergonomics). - Sustain 5S/visual management and ensure compliance with procedures, work instructions, and certifications (e.g., ISO/AS quality systems).- Stage additive manufactured (AM) hardware for outplant processing, collaborating with material handlers, shipping, and receiving teams to coordinate expedited (HOT) shipments and ensure timely delivery- Coordinate with external vendors to resolve certification requirements and purchase order (PO) discrepancies, maintaining accurate documentation and compliance standards- Perform comprehensive quality control activities including visual inspections, surface finish evaluations, scrap hardware, and complex borescope operations to ensure parts meet specifications- Demonstrate understanding of end-to-end manufacturing processes from raw material procurement through inventory management, with ability to identify and propose process improvements- Maintain accurate inventory records and tracking systems for AM components- Support non-conformance reporting and corrective action processes- Collaborate with engineering teams on design feedback and manufacturability assessments- Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, etc.)- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices- Provide technical support for production issues and troubleshooting**Minimum Qualifications**- High school diploma or GED.- 5+ years’ hands-on experience in manufacturing operations- 1–3+ years leading technicians or machinists on off-shift operations (C/D or equivalent), or in a lead/supervisor capacity.- Proficiency reading engineering drawings and interpreting GD&T; experience with in-process inspection and documentation.- Working knowledge of EDMs, bandsaws, and basic machining practices; familiarity with tensile specimen preparation is a plus.- Strong communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs; comfortable using PPE and operating in a metal AM post-processing environment.- Willingness to work nights/weekends and overtime as needed to support schedule. - Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.**Preferred Qualifications** - Experience with metal AM materials/processes - Prior ownership of cell metrics (throughput, FPY, scrap/rework, cycle time, OTD) with demonstrated improvements. - Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality systems. - Lean/continuous improvement experience (5S, standard work, kaizen, visual management). - Ability to obtain a forklift certification.### Base Pay Range for:WA applicants is $113,158.00 - $158,420.85**Other site ranges may differ** **Culture Statement**Don’t meet all desired requirements?
