DescriptionNote: This description documents only the management-related hours. The remaining hours are allocated to hourly tasks such as food preparation, production, guest service, and cleaning.
Basic Purpose and Objectives of the PositionThe Shift Manager (SM) is an hourly role assisting management with routine administrative and operational tasks within the restaurant. Key responsibilities include:
- Driving excellence in customer service
- Maintaining company standards in product and facility specifications
- Reviewing food handling procedures
- Assessing operational processes
Human resources duties are limited to crew training and coaching. The Shift Manager may also be responsible for opening and closing the restaurant in the absence of management, maintaining administrative control but not serving in a managerial capacity.
Principal AccountabilitiesCustomer Satisfaction/Product QualityEnsuring fast, accurate service, positive guest relations, and product quality standards. Conducting food safety audits and providing coaching on customer service and quality.
FinancialManaging cash procedures such as deposits, making change, and safe operations in collaboration with management.
OperationsConducting inventory, food safety audits, and setup. Monitoring facility readiness, inventory, food prep, and order fulfillment. Ensuring speed of service and resolving bottlenecks. Responsible for deliveries and restaurant opening/closing when management is unavailable.
Human ResourcesProviding coaching, feedback, and hands-on training for crew members.
