Job summary

Firehouse Subs - Alaska is seeking a Shift Leader who can own the restaurant and lead a team during their shift. You will spend most of your time on the floor with the team, but when you are running the shift, you are responsible for making sure the restaurant is operating the way it should.

Our leaders are expected to show urgency, coach others, and take ownership to keep guests satisfied. This is a working leadership role with opportunities for advancement as you grow within the team.

Responsibilities

• Run shifts and keep the team organized and productive.
• Work alongside the team and set the pace.
• Provide great customer service and handle guest concerns.
• Maintain standards for speed, accuracy, food quality, and cleanliness.
• Train and coach Team Members.
• Address problems as they happen during the shift.
• Make labor decisions based on sales and business needs.
• Follow portioning standards and help control costs.
• Complete opening/closing, cash handling, and shift tasks.
• Enforce Firehouse Subs policies and procedures.
• Support Public Safety Foundation initiatives.
• Communicate issues to the General Manager.
• Help build a restaurant that guests want to return to.

Pay: $18–$21/hour + tips

We are looking for Shift Leaders who can take ownership of the restaurant and lead a team during their shift.

This is a working leadership position. You will spend most of your time on the floor with the team, but when you are running the shift, you are responsible for making sure the restaurant is operating the way it should.

If you see something that needs to be done, take care of it. If someone needs coaching, coach them. If the team needs help, jump in. If a guest has an issue, find a solution.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Running shifts and keeping the team organized and productive
• Working alongside the team and setting the pace
• Providing great customer service and handling guest concerns
• Maintaining standards for speed, accuracy, food quality, and cleanliness
• Training and coaching Team Members
• Addressing problems as they happen instead of leaving them for the next shift
• Making good decisions with labor based on sales and business needs
• Following portioning standards and helping control food and operating costs
• Completing opening, closing, cash handling, and other shift responsibilities accurately
• Following and enforcing Firehouse Subs policies and procedures
• Supporting Public Safety Foundation initiatives
• Communicating important issues to the General Manager
• Helping build a restaurant that the team and our guests want to come back to

What We’re Looking For

Reliability matters. If you are scheduled to lead a shift, the restaurant and your team are depending on you to be there.

You need to be comfortable giving direction and correcting things when they aren’t being done correctly. That doesn’t mean yelling or treating people poorly. Good leaders can hold people accountable while still treating them with respect.

We also expect urgency. Restaurants move quickly, and our leaders need to move with purpose, recognize when the team is getting behind, and help get things back on track.

You don’t need to know everything on day one. We can teach our systems and procedures. We are looking for people who are dependable, willing to learn, willing to lead, and interested in getting better.

Growth

We want to promote from within whenever possible. Shift Leader is an opportunity to learn how to run a restaurant and develop the skills needed to move into Assistant Manager and eventually General Manager.

Requirements

• Able to reliably work scheduled shifts

• Follow all Firehouse Subs policies, food safety requirements, and applicable regulations
• Restaurant experience is preferred, but we will consider candidates with strong leadership potential and the right attitude
