Job summary

Blank Street, Inc. is opening its first Los Angeles location and seeks Shift Leads to be the heartbeat of the store. You’ll direct shifts, coach the team, and uphold standards for hospitality, quality, and safety while keeping the floor moving.

You’ll train new team members with the GM and Training Team, maintain a clean, organized environment, and partner with Marketing and Operations on events. This role blends leadership with hands-on service in a fast-paced cafe setting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a customer service leadership role (e.g., Shift Leader, Shift Supervisor).
• Experience in hospitality, cafe, or beverage service preferred.
• Able to lift 25+ lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Lead the shift with clarity, coaching and supporting the team.
• Train new team members alongside the GM and Training Team.
• Ensure product quality, safety and hospitality standards.
• Delight customers with welcoming, engaging service and turn them into regulars.
• Handle customer or team issues calmly and solution‑oriented.
• Maintain a clean, organized environment meeting health and Blank Street standards.
• Collaborate with Operations and Marketing for events and promotions.
• Master cash handling, inventory, waste tracking, and opening/closing procedures.

What You’ll Own

• Lead the shift with clarity and confidence directing, coaching, and supporting the team while owning the floor
• Train new team members alongside your General Manager and the Training Team
• Continue to train others as we evolve to ensure we are achieving our standards across product quality, safety, and hospitality
• Delight our customers with consistent, welcoming and engaging hospitality, taking the opportunity to turn every customer into a regular
• Step in to handle customer or team issues in a calm, positive, and solutions‑oriented way
• Maintain a clean and organized environment upholding both Local Department of Health and Blank Street standards at all times
• Be an integral part of our world class team using the best equipment, coffee, and matcha in the industry
• Partner with our Operations and Marketing teams for events and promotions to expand our brand to new customers
• Set your team up for success by mastering different company procedures such as cash handling, inventory, waste tracking, and opening and closing processes

Requirements

• 2+ years’ experience in a customer service leadership position (e.g. Shift Leader Shift Supervisor, Key Holder), preferably in hospitality, coffee, or beverage
• 18+ years of age
• Able to lift 25+ lbs, and to stand for long periods of time
• Availability that meets the needs of our cafes
  
  • Full Time: 30-40 hours per week, 4-5 days per week and must be able to work 2 peak days (peak days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
  • Weekend and holiday availability preferred
• You must be authorized to work in the U.S.: upon acceptance of a job offer and completion of the Form I‑9 with acceptable documents, Blank Street will provide the federal government with employees’ Form I‑9 information to confirm authorization to work in the U.S. (a process known as E‑Verify)
