Job summary

Vortakt is seeking a shift lead – CNC machinist to coordinate priorities across shifts and ensure efficient production on multiple CNC machines in a temperature-controlled environment.

You will lead, train, and troubleshoot with a focus on quality and consistency, while maintaining safe, organized work cells and reporting performance metrics. The role emphasizes precision and collaboration in a high-standards setting.

Qualifications

• Requires 3–5 years CNC machining setup experience on CNC lathe/turning, mills, and 5-axis equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and workmanship standards.
• Able to setup, troubleshoot, and perform precision inspections on CNC equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and instruct shift workers on assignments, with responsibility for all work performed on the shift.
• Prepare cells for production by selecting tooling, gauges, and supplies.
• Perform machine setup and tool changes based on materials.
• Operate equipment efficiently and monitor performance and piece quality to meet specs and rates.
• Conduct precision quality checks to ensure tolerances.
• Communicate across shifts for smooth workflow.
• Maintain clean work area and organize tools and chips.
• Prepare cell performance documentation reports.
• Handle material delivery to cells and shipping staging.
